Red Blood Cells
Red blood cells are also known as erithrocytes(E-rith-ro-sites). Millions of red blood cells are contained with in a single drop of blood. Red blood cells are not like other cells, they lost their nucleus, and most of their organelles. Having lost their nucelus and organelles it leaves the cell unable to reproduce, among other cell functions. .
The average life span for a red blood cell is 120 days. After that it is then filtered out by the liver and the spleen and removed from the body with the excretory system. |
