Circulation of Blood
The heart is split into two separate pumps. The right side of the heart gets blood that needs to pick up oxygen so it sends blood directly toward the lungs with no pit stops, this is called pulmonary circulation (pulmonary means lungs). The oxygen deprived blood enters the lungs where the cells release their carbon dioxide and then gather as much oxygen as they can. The blood after picking up oxygen goes straight back to the heart but the left side this time around. The left side of the heart then sends it to the rest of the body to deliver oxygen and nutrients.
